Romestead Olive Oil: mills, pots and the Dolium chain

At a glance

Grind Olives into Olive Paste at a Manual Mill or Watermill, then combine one Paste and one Empty Pot in an Olive Oil Dolium. A Watermill is not required to begin.

Turn olives into paste, then oil

Use a Manual Mill or Watermill to make Olive Paste, then process it with an Empty Pot in an Olive Oil Dolium.

Stage Input Building Output
Grind 1 Olives Manual Mill or Watermill Olive Paste
Press 1 Olive Paste + 1 Empty Pot Olive Oil Dolium Olive Oil

You can start with a Manual Mill. A Watermill is not a necessary first step for this chain. Make sure you collect Olive Oil, rather than trying to use the intermediate paste as oil.

Unlock containers and equipment

The Dolium is associated with Ceres and costs 3 Clay at the Workbench.

For Empty Pots, unlock Pottery through Mars’s Declaration of War task: use the declaration and win the raid. The Pottery building cost is 3 Lumber, 3 Stone and 4 Clay, and its recipe turns 1 Clay into 5 Empty Pots.

An older video gives a different Pottery unlock. Check the task reward in your quest list if the building is missing instead of combining both unlock descriptions.

Find the bottleneck

  1. Does the mill have Olives and produce Paste?
  2. Is the Dolium unlocked and supplied with both Paste and Empty Pots?
  3. Is the Pottery kiln supplied with Clay and burning fuel?
  4. Is the relevant worker assigned?

The Pottery description distinguishes fuel use with and without a working citizen. Do not assume an idle kiln has no fuel cost, or that connecting logistics makes every fuel input automatic.

See clay for the resource supply and logistics for connecting the buildings.
