Romestead Logistics Between Towns: Trading Post Routes

At a glance

Research Trading Posts at a University for 30 Research Paper, build one at each end, and prepare a Carrier. Select the other town and cargo, then verify a small shipment before sending larger loads.

Build a Trading Post at each end

Cross-town deliveries use Trading Posts, not an ordinary town logistics connection. Research the Trading Post at a University for 30 Research Paper.

Prepare a Trading Post in both towns, Material Storage for the cargo, and a Carrier. The building description requires a Carrier at at least one end; it does not establish that both towns must each have one.

Set up a route

  1. Open the sending town’s Trading Post.
  2. Select the other town.
  3. Choose the item or resource and its quantity.
  4. Start with a small shipment and compare the two towns’ stock.

Older route interfaces use both a per-item quantity and a units field. Check what the displayed quantity means before sending a large load. Do not assume one field is the entire shipment size.

Troubleshoot a stalled or cancelled route

Check the source stock, Carrier assignment, destination storage capacity and route settings. Trading Post deliveries pause when the receiving Material Storage is full.

Version 0.26.1_4 changed cancellation behavior: if a normal deposit fails, a cancelled route dumps its cargo outside the Trading Post. Check the ground around the station as well as the warehouse before deciding goods have vanished.

An old tutorial recommends demolishing a trade station to work around a bug. Use that as historical context, not a general first repair step for your town.

See Research Paper for the unlock and town logistics for local supply chains.
